Pre-Shoot Consultation

If you’ve never done a boudoir photo shoot before, it can be a little bit intimidating. A boudoir shoot can be such a fun, empowering, transformative experience. But it’s also intimate, requiring a lot of vulnerability and trust (both in yourself and in me, your photographer).

All of that might feel a bit intense or scary, especially if it’s your first time. That’s why I always have a pre-shoot consultation with my clients in the lead-up to their shoot.

Event planning

Event planning is when we go over the questionnaire that I send to each new client after she books a shoot with me. It contains all sorts of fun questions like hair & makeup preferences (we have in-studio makeup artists and hair stylists), and what they’d like to listen to (music has such incredible power over our energies and moods, that it’s important to me to create a personalized playlist for everyone).

Questions for New Clients

But my very favorite question to ask my clients during their pre-shoot consultation is:

What are your favorite features about yourself and your body?

Maybe that doesn’t seem like such a staggering question, but I find that it always catches people pleasantly off guard. It gets them thinking about themselves in a different way, prompting this lovely little moment of positive self-reflection. I love seeing it.

Plus, it’s really important information for me to know!

Photography

Because posing for boudoir photos can be intimidating, today I’m going to share my 2 poses for boudoir photos that are easy and flattering. These boudoir poses will work for all body types, and all lingerie or nude photographs.

Pose #1: The fake pillow fight – this one is easy because everyone has had a pillow fight at some point in their life. It doesn’t require
thinking of all your best angles, your hair doesn’t have to be perfect, and it typically gets a genuine smile.

Boudoir Pose #2: On Elbows and Stomach. This one my go-to pose for the start of a session. While other photographers start upright, I found those most people prefer this pose for a flattering, more comfortable start.

Video shooting

I love photographing anything that helps females feel empowered. That could be portraits of her in a floral dress out in a flower field to dark and moody boudoir, new studio head-shots during a good hair day, or a light and airy boudoir photo shoot when she is feeling confident and sexy.

Capturing the preparation to getting into poses, the video process is a wonderful and creative way to capture your fondest most sexy memories.
